John Zucker Opens Cru Café
Favorite Dining Destination on Pinckney Street
is Transformed
Charleston, SC – January
30, 2002 – Next Friday, February 8th, Charlestonians
will sip mint julip tea and dine on upscale comfort food as a favorite
Charleston dining destination re-opens its doors – 18 Pinckney
Street. Following extensive renovations and refurbishments, chef
and food expert John Zucker will open the main floor - and most
prominently, the porch – of this 18th Century home to offer
his own brand of upscale comfort food in a classically Charleston
atmosphere.
Many Charlestonians will
recognize the name John Zucker from his work as executive chef at
the 4 1/2 star Sonoma Café and Wine Bar in Charleston –
or from his current business, Cru Catering, which he’ll continue
to supervise while running the new restaurant.
“While I love the creatiove freedom that catering represents,
I never faltered from my ultimate goal of opening my own restaurant,”
says Zucker. “I can’t wait to get back into a restaurant
kitchen, to create the kinds of dishes that people crave –
and to interact with the people of Charleston. That’s whaty
I’ve missed most of all.”
The #1 graduate
in his class at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, Zucker is applying his
techniques and varied background to his new venture – his
house specialities will include Lobster Bisque, Wild Mushroom and
Arugula Manicotti, Salmon and Lemon Rissoto, Smoked Chicken and
Four Cheese Ravioli Primavera and Herb Cornmeal Grouper.
