Gadsden House


The Gadsden House was built by Christopher Gadsden, a revolutionary war hero and statesman representing the colony in the First Continental Congress. It was given as a wedding gift to his son Philip Gadsden and continued to house members of the Gadsden family until the early 20th Century. The house saw decline in the mid 20th century, as did much of the historic Ansonborough neighborhood it is located within, but was saved from demolition in 1959 by the Historic Charleston Foundation as their first step in revitalizing the area. The final step in fully restoring the historic landmark is currently underway as part of a collaborative effort by Luxury Simplified Construction in partnership with the Historic Charleston Foundation.

Patriots Point & The Yorktown


With unmatched views of the harbor and the Charleston city skyline, with 42,000 tons of steel underfoot, the USS YORKTOWN at Patriots Point is an unforgettable event location. There is no place like it; a setting where history is the remarkable backdrop for special occasions.

Patriots Point has evolved as one of the region’s most memorable travel destinations since its inception in 1975. It has been the site for hundreds of events of all types. Interior and exterior areas provide options for large and small groups. Guests now have access to spaces that were not previously available, including the Admiral’s Quarters, providing perspective on past life on board a Navy ship. The new South Pier area provides a breezy waterside setting, with room for dining and dancing under Carolina blue skies or the stars.

Runnymede Plantation


This charming, private property lies between Magnolia and Middleton Plantations in St. Andrew’s parish. Like those gardens, Runnymede can be accessed from Ashley River Road. Your guests’ experience begins as soon as they enter through the iron gates, down a proper, picturesque dirt path surrounded by a canopy of centuries old trees, twisting vines and Spanish moss. At the road’s end, the forest opens up to
reveal a vast meadow displaying pristine lawns and
punctuated with magnolia trees and an oak tree so large it is a sight upon itself. Beyond the meadow, an unobstructed view of the Ashley River, lazily floating by provides the perfect backdrop for any event. The rich, Southern history is apparent through the brick ruins of the old Victorian style Plantation house, creating a romantic mystique, intensified as the night falls and the dramatic landscape lighting is cued.

Thomas Bennett House


The Governor Thomas Bennett House, circa 1825, is one of the most magnificent homes in Charleston, South Carolina. The home is of tremendous architectural importance, with exceptional ornamentation plasterwork. Of particular note is the free-flying staircase, which is only one of two in the entire city. The house has been handsomely restored, providing an elegant backdrop to events and parties. The gracious interior of the house is extended and enhanced by a spacious piazza overlooking the garden. The garden is one of the most beautiful traditional gardens in Charleston. With a large brick courtyard and fountain, it is the perfect setting for distinctive and elegant functions.

The Governor Thomas Bennett House is available for corporate events, private parties, wedding ceremonies, receptions and rehearsal dinners.

Woodlands Mansion


After extensive restoration under the loving care of Deborah and Antonio Diz, the Gadson Manor Inn opened in 1986, but closed in 1989 and fell from public view. In 1993 the property was sold to Joe Whitmore, of New York and Martha’s Vineyard, and underwent 18 months of restoration and reconstruction. In May 1995 Woodlands Resort and Inn opened to the public as a luxury inn and dining room. In June 2006, Sheila C. Johnson, CEO Salamander Hospitality, LLC, based in Middleburg, Virginia, purchased the Woodlands, and set about refurbishing and refreshing all of the guest rooms and public areas of the house, as well as adding modern amenities. A casual dining area called Pines was also added adjacent to the Grand Dining Room.
